Biography

2011 (Junior): Achieved career highs in several categories during a productive third season with the Raiders…posted a .316 batting average, which ranked second on the team, with two home runs and 27 RBIs…paced the team in on-base percentage (.434) by drawing 25 walks and striking out just 12 times…scored 24 runs…stole five bases…named the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week in late April after going 5-for-10 with five runs scored, two doubles, a home run and four RBIs in games against East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock…hit .372 against left-handed hitters despite being left-handed…also hit over .360 with runners in scoring position…started 47 of the team’s 51 games.

2010 (Sophomore): Continued to progress with the Red Raiders in his second season…appeared in 42 games and made 40 starts, including 34 in left field…hit .293 with a home run and 20 RBIs…delivered multiple hits in 10 games and multiple RBIs in four games…posted a .346 batting average at Fairchild Field through 52 at-bats…had a memorable second game of a doubleheader against California (Pa.), going 4-for-4 with a home run, double, six RBIs and two runs…strung together a season-long hitting streak of five games.

2009 (Freshman): Completed a solid debut season for the Red Raiders…made seven starts as a designated hitter…appeared in 16 games overall, including two as a third baseman…posted a .280 batting average with four RBIs and seven runs scored…compiled multiple hits in two games…had a .394 on-base percentage.

Somerset High School: Finished his high school career earning three letters under head coach Steve Costea… served as the team’s third baseman… played in the Laurel Highlands conference… his team was a PIAA Class AAA state runner-up… also competed for the Somerset legion team under head coach Bob Hay… was also a team captain on the golf and basketball teams in high school.

Personal: Full name is Tyler Charles Uphouse…is the son of Jay and Lois Uphouse…majoring in management information systems.
