Hamill and Wolter Are Key Components in Second Straight PSAC Win For Raider Swimmers

Both men earn two first-place finishes in 113-90 win over Kutztown

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Freshman Patrick Hamill and junior Shane Wolter both earned two first-place finishes on Friday night from the Donald N. Miller Pool as the Shippensburg men's swimming team earned its second-straight PSAC dual meet victory with a 113-90 win over Kutztown.

The Raiders finished 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle to earn 16 points. Hamill won the event in 22.38 seconds, while freshman Shawn Robbins was second in 22.77 seconds and sophomore Jamie Kendall took third place with a time of 22.83 seconds.

Hamill also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.16 seconds while senior Brian Taylor was just behind with a time of 53.70 seconds. Robbins later won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.95 seconds.

Wolter won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.93 and dominated the 500-yard freestyle, winning the event by 11 seconds with a time of 4:50.52. Freshman Tyler Prete won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.57.

In the 200-yard medley relay, it was the 'C' team of freshman Joe Keefe, senior Will Kane, Taylor and sophomore Tim Smullen that stepped up big and took home first place with a time of 1:40.66.

Among the runner-up finishers for Shippensburg on Friday evening were junior Nate Ryan (100 backstroke; 57.26 seconds), sophomore Josh Nyce (200 IM, 2:03.49) and freshman Mitch Paczesniak (1,000 freestyle, 10:22.50).

Shippensburg will conclude its regular season dual meet schedule on Saturday when it travels to Indiana (Pa.) University for a dual meet that is set to begin at 1 p.m.
