Biography
2010-11 (Junior): Served as Shippensburg’s primary backstroke swimmer with Top 10 performances at the PSAC Championships…finished seventh in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.73 seconds that ranks as the 10th-fastest time in school history…placed ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.57…was an integral member of the 200-yard medley relay that placed third at the PSAC meet with a time of 1:34.84 and the 400-yard medley relay that placed sixth in 3:29.64…also placed 16th in the 200-yard IM…occasionally swam the butterfly in dual meets.
2009-10 (Sophomore): Evolved as a backstroke and butterfly swimmer for Shippensburg in his second season…was SU’s leading PSAC placewinner in the 200-yard backstroke, earning ninth place (1:58.11)…also placed 11th at the PSAC meet in the 100-yard backstroke (53.97)… contributed to the 200-yard medley relay that finished fourth at PSACs…ranked among the Top 3 of SU backstroke swimmers and achieved new personal bests in all three flights…competed in the 50 and 200-yard freestyle…posted steady times in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley.
2008-09 (Freshman): Completed his debut season with immediate contributions as a backstroke swimmer for the Red Raiders…placed twice at the PSAC Championships, including an 11th-place turn in the 100-yard backstroke (54.73) and a 13th-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.59)…recorded the team’s second-fastest time in the 50-yard backstroke (25.49) at the Patriot Invitational as well as the third-fastest time in both the 100-yard backstroke (54.64) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.59).
Neshaminy High School: Two-year letterwinner under head coach and SU swimming alum Brian Suter…named a team captain…earned the team’s Rookie of the Year award, Dedication Award Coaches Award and the Spirit Award…recorded second-team honors in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly…finished with a time of 56:34 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.
Personal: Full name is Joseph Thomas Keefe…is the son of John Keefe…majoring in earth science…has a brother, Mike, who is a teammate.
