Biography
2009-10 (Junior): Developed into his role as an integral swimmer in his third year with the team…thrived once again as a freestylist…placed individual in three events at the PSAC Championships, including the 200-yard freestyle (6th; 1:44.73), 100-yard freestyle (9th; 47.32) and the 50-yard freestyle (11th; 21.69)…also teamed up on four of SU’s five impressive relays at the PSAC meet, all of which placed fourth or better…posted SU’s top times in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, both coming at the Patriot Invitational…ranked fifth on the team among 100-yard butterfly swimmers.
2008-09 (Sophomore): Maintained his status as a breaststroke and a freestyle swimmer for the Red Raiders during his second year with the team…placed twice at the conference championships…finished 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.93) and 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.71)…performed admirably at the GMU Patriot Invitational by posting the team’s second-best season time in the 50-yard freestyle (21.47) and the team’s fifth-best season time in the 100-yard freestyle (47.61).
2007-08 (Freshman): Continued his dominance with the second-fastest time in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.62 seconds at the Zippy Invitational…earned the third-fastest time in the 100 freestyle at the Zippy Invitational with a performance of 47.62 seconds…recorded a time of 1:48.39 in the 200 freestyle at the Patriot Invitational…swam the third-fastest time in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.49 at the Zippy Invitational and finished the 200 IM in 2:04.59 against Indiana (Pa.).
Personal: Full name is Timothy Kent Smullen…is the son of Don and Ann Smullen…majoring in history with a social studies teaching certification while also seeking a minor in geography and earth science.
