The Shippensburg University women's swimming team completed its weekend Sunday at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational by advancing five swimmers into evening finals in action at the McGinness Pool inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center.
 
For the second straight day, Shippensburg recorded 13 individual performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifying standards.
 
Olivia Carver had the top time from the morning session in the 1,650-yard freestyle and ended up seventh overall with a time of 17:57.07 that is just 10 seconds off her collegiate best. Alyssa Brown (18:59.11) and Olivia Sitkowski (19:03.46) also achieved PSAC cuts with new PRs.
 
SU's top swim in the evening session came from freshman Bria Burkholder, who won the pre-consolation 'C' final of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.79. Burkholder exceeded her time from morning prelims by 1.5 seconds.
 
Makennah Fickett earned an 11th-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.96. Michelle Kubiak and Caroline Schweigert also delivered conference cuts in the 200-yard backstroke; Kubiak touched the wall in 2:14.84 while Schweigert was just .03 seconds behind.
 
Charlee Shaw was a 16th-place finisher in the 200-yard breaststroke – her morning prelim time in the event was 2:29.93. Carver took 16th in the 100-yard freestyle with a finals time of 54.62 seconds after swimming a PR of 54.18 seconds during prelims. Ella Nick finished 21st with a time of 54.55 seconds – an improvement of .25 seconds from her morning prelim.
 
Zoë Midura and Kubiak both achieved PSAC cuts in the 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 54.99 seconds and 55.36 seconds. Midura's time marks a new personal best.
 
Elyse Arnold time-trialed the 100-yard butterfly and earned a PSAC cut with a time of 1:01.22.
 
Shippensburg returns to action after Thanksgiving when it travels December 5-6 to Gettysburg for a weekend invitational.
