SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team posted a split with No. 28 East Stroudsburg on Saturday, winning Game 1, 5-2, and losing Game 2, 4-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader on a mild day at Fairchild Field.
Â
Shippensburg (7-17, 2-4 PSAC East) used a three-run bottom of the fifth in Game 1 to break a 2-2 tie with East Stroudsburg (19-5, 2-1), emerging triumphant in a seven-inning game that was completed in 1:47. The teams were attempting to beat Mother Nature in the nine-inning nightcap, but with two runners on and one out in the top of the ninth, the skies opened up and a one-hour lightning delay ensued.
Â
Shippensburg will host Shepherd at 2 p.m. Friday at Fairchild Field.
