The Shippensburg University men's soccer team started the 2021 regular season on Thursday with a 2-2 draw against Holy Family in a non-conference matchup at David See Field.
Shippensburg (0-0-1) got on the board in the 10th minute when
Seth Crabbe fired home a goal into the top left corner. The Raider maintained a 1-0 lead at halftime and well into the second half.
Holy Family (0-0-1) equaled the score in the 77th minute when Georg Montag fired home a rebound in the box. Soon after, senior
Cory Ferguson put the Raiders back in front with a strike to the bottom left corner off an assist from Crabbe at 78:06.
With less than 80 seconds left in regulation, Holy Family was converted a penalty kick after a foul was whistled in the box. Following the goal, and later in regulation, three red cards were issued – leaving SU with nine players in overtime and Holy Family with 10.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in overtime, but the match ended in a stalemate.
