SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Chestnut Hill on Tuesday night in a non-conference match at David See Field.
Shippensburg (0-0-2) struck first with a goal by sophomore
Seth Crabbe in the 22nd minute. Crabbe sent home a feed off a free kick from senior
Owen Iacobelli for his second goal in as many matches this season.
Chestnut Hill (0-2-1) evened the match at 77:30 when freshman Andrey McIntyre finished an individual move to make the score 1-1.
With 1:12 remaining in the first overtime, the Raiders nearly won it, as a header from Crabbe struck the crossbar.
Both goalkeepers played well. SU freshman
Cody Willoughby made seven saves, including a diving stop in the 37th minute to deny a Diego Cabrera scoring chance. CHC freshman Mahmoud Mahmoud made four saves, including a splendid diving stop with less than four minutes in regulation.
Shippensburg returns to action in eight days when its begins PSAC East play at Bloomsburg next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
