The Shippensburg University softball team cranked out 27 hits Saturday in a doubleheader sweep at IUP, defeating the host Crimson Hawks by scores of 15-4 (five innings) and 9-3 in action from Podbielski Field.

Shippensburg (13-7) totaled 11 extra-base hits, including two home runs from freshman
Hannah Marsteller. Overall, Marsteller was 5-for-9 with the two homers, two doubles, seven RBIs and four runs scored. She was one of three Raiders on the day with five or more hits in the doubleheader.

Sophomore
Courtney Coy reached base in seven of her nine plate appearances to raise her batting average to .529 through 20 games this season. Coy was 6-for-8 with two doubles, five RBIs, a walk and three runs scored.

Freshman
Lacey Hunter entered the day with just two hits through her first 27 collegiate at-bats but had a breakthrough afternoon by going 5-for-7 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored. Â Â Â Â Â Â

Kayla Bonawitz was 4-for-8 with a triple, RBI, sacrifice and three runs scored. Freshman

Meghan Klee each had two RBIs on the day, while freshmen

Morgan Fetter each had two hits on the day, including a double.

Game 1 featured the Raiders scoring seven runs in the third inning and five runs in the fifth inning to claim a rout. Freshman
Tressa Kagarise improved her record to 7-1 by scattering four runs on eight hits and striking out seven in the victory.

Game 2 had the Raiders trailing 1-0 through the first four innings before rallying with three runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and one more in the seventh. Senior
Taryn Wilson got the victory in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and striking out 10. It was Wilson's fourth double-digit strikeout game of the season and the 12th of her career.
