SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team began its 2018-19 season Saturday by winning seven events in an impressive dual-meet victory over Gannon by a score of 110-89 from Donald N. Miller Pool.
Junior
Jeff Beyer won three events for the Raiders – claiming gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.07), the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.48) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.95). Freshman
Matt Bochanski was a double winner in his debut, finishing first in the 200-yard IM (2:01.20) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.46).
Those times were five of an impressive 12 swims that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard. Sophomore
Hunter Keck won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.84 seconds and took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.66 seconds. Freshman
Trevor Woolwine finished second to Beyer in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.50).

Andrew Hale had PSAC cuts in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.22) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.51 seconds), while durable junior
Nick Bloom met the standard in the 200-yard IM (2:01.58). Sophomore
Eric Zimmerman impressed in his freestyle events, and had a PSAC cut in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.49).
SU opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Bloom, Hale, senior
Shane Kaliszewski and Keck swam 1:38.09.
