The Shippensburg University women's tennis team played the first match of its Spring Break trip in Florida on Sunday morning, dropping a 9-0 decision to the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

Sophomore Catherine Miller won four games in her No. 1 singles match, dropping a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Nyenyeri Kanefu. Junior Gabbie Binder won a game at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, juniors Victoria Galanti and Megan Moorhead won four games at No. 3 doubles. Miller and sophomore Daisy Rundio won two games at No. 1 doubles.

"They put in a lot of effort today and got a solid few games out of a really tough team," head coach Lindsey Tennis said. "I think we have a lot of fight in us and I am hoping we can continue to improve as the week unfolds."

Shippensburg is set for two matches Monday – a morning contest against Schreiner and an evening clash with Augustana (S.D.).
