SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team had its first dual meet of the non-championship season Friday night under the lights but dropped a 7-0 decision to California (Pa.) at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (0-1) and California (2-0) battled for the doubles point amidst warm and muggy conditions. The Vulcans claimed a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles but the remaining two matches were tied 3-3. Cal was able to capitalize on deuce points to pull away.

Corinne Markovich and
Yasmin De Meyer won three games at No. 2 doubles, while
Rachel Gallagher and
Jade Miller won four games at No. 3 doubles.

All six Raiders won at least one game in singles play. The most hotly contested match of the night came at the No. 2 singles flight, where
Samhitha Koganti won four games in the first set and three games in the second set.

Brinley Orris battled hard at No. 6 singles, winning six total games. De Meyer won three games at No. 3 singles.
