SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team achieved a bounce-back victory on Saturday afternoon, posting a 7-0 victory over Clarion in non-conference action from sunny and warm Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (1-1), playing its second match in an 18-hour span, had eight different players contribute victories in the contested matches; the Raiders also claimed No. 6 singles by default as visiting Clarion (1-4) was limited to just five players.

In doubles,
Samhitha Koganti and
Brinley Orris posted a 6-1 victory while
Sarah Vessah and
Ava Kalist claimed a tiebreaker victory at No. 2 doubles, winning 7-6 (7-2).

Koganti and Vessah claimed their first dual-meet wins; it was Vessah's first official competition after competing in an exhibition match last night.

Corinne Markovich outlasted Davan Lion in a marathon at No. 1 singles and did so with another exciting comeback. After dropping the first set 2-6, Markovich rallied to win the second set 6-4 and the tiebreaker 10-3 to achieve the victory.

Yasmin De Meyer slotted in at No. 2 singles and claimed a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 win over Polia Vladeva.

Jade Miller (6-0, 6-1),
Rachel Gallagher (6-0, 6-1) and Orris (6-0, 6-0) rounded out the singles wins in the No. 3 through No. 5 flights while Kalist earned the default victory at No. 6 singles.

Shippensburg's final matches of the fall season will occur in three weeks time; on Oct. 11 the Raiders will have road matches at both Messiah and Lebanon Valley.
