The Shippensburg University men's swimming team traveled to West Virginia on Friday night and claimed a dual-meet victory over host Fairmont State, as the Raiders posted the fastest time in 10 events en route to a 109-64 decision over the Fighting Falcons.
 
Of the many solid Raider performances, six satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard. Junior Jeff Beyer achieved the feat twice, posting victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.21) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.83).
 
Junior Nick Bloom won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.17 seconds, while freshman Andrew Hale triumphed in the 200-yard IM (2:03.10).
 
Freshman Matt Bochanski was the first to the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke, narrowly out-touching the opposition with a time of 1:00.15. Fellow freshman Trevor Woolwine won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.31 seconds. Bloom, Hale, Bochanski and Woolwine each posted PSAC cuts.
 
Woolwine won twice on the night, also claiming the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.85 seconds. Freshman Vin Salvatore out-raced his teammates in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a first-place time of 10:30.73.
 
SU also managed the fastest times in both of its relays on the night. Bloom, Bochanski, Salvatore and Hale combined for a 200-yard medley relay time of 1:39.89, while freshman Christian Sawyer, sophomore Eric Zimmerman, Woolwine and Beyer formed a quartet that completed the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.38.
