Senior
Morgan DeFloria became the seventh player in school history to achieve 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career on Saturday, but the Shippensburg University volleyball team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at No. 21 Gannon in straight sets from the Hammermill Center.
Shippensburg (20-5, 10-3 PSAC) lost in straight sets for the first time this season, as Gannon (23-1, 12-1) served 10 aces, recorded nine blocks and held the Raiders to their lowest attack percentage (.070) of the season. SU also had seven service errors to just one ace.
DeFloria led the Raiders in both kills and digs on Saturday, posting 10 and 12 digs respectively. Already second in school history for career kills (1,413), she now has 1,004 career digs to join the likes of Alyssa Kilgore (2001-04), Michelle Doughty (2002-05), Missy Pierce (2003-06), Colleen Toomey (2006-09), Jill Edwards (2010-13) and Annie Goerl (2013-16) in Raider lore.
SU did excel on the block Saturday, recording 11.5 blocks for the second-most in a match this season. Junior
Samantha Webber had a hand in six blocks, including two solo, while DeFloria and junior
Kendall Johnson each tallied four block assists.
Webber had seven kills and hit .167, while Johnson had four kills and hit .231. Junior
Gabriella Johnson had five kills, 12 digs and three block assists.
Sophomore
Emily Hangen provided 25 assists and eight digs, while junior
Megan Forstburg finished with 10 digs.
