Women’s Soccer Announces 2016 Recruiting Class

SU set to add nine players to the fold next fall

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University women's soccer head coach Rob Fulton announced the recruitment of nine student-athletes that have each agreed to attend the university and will suit up for the Raider program when preseason camp gets underway in August 2016.
 
"We are excited about the incoming recruiting class for 2016 and feel it includes players who will continue to carry on the high standards that the program has set over the past few years," Fulton said. "The 2016 class will enhance the team depth with great athletes that will assist us in continuing to compete in the upper part of the very competitive PSAC."
 
The 2016 recruiting class features six players from Pennsylvania, along with one each from Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware. The 2016 team will be led by captains Casey Rightmyer and Stephanie Allshouse.

Taylor Brady
Defense • 5-7
Galloway Township, N.J./Absegami
 
Absegami High School: Earned four varsity letters as a member of the Braves under head coach Elizabeth Lee…scored seven career goals, playing defensive back for Absegami…member of the honor roll…played club soccer with the South Jersey Elite Barons under coach Don Dambra.

About Brady: Full name is Taylor Jade Brady…is the daughter of John and Allene Brady…plans to major in business…has a sister, Alyssa.
 
Coach Fulton on Brady: "Taylor is an athletic and physical defender and will be joining our defensive group and will bring a competitive defending edge to the team. Her physical presence and skill set will be helpful in the PSAC."
 
Jordan Cassatt
Midfield/Forward • 5-3
Eldersburg, Md./Liberty
 
Liberty High School: Earned three varsity letters as a member of the Lions under head coach Danielle Priest…was an All-County First Team and All-Conference First Teal selection following senior season…named to the All-County Second Team as a junior…tallied three goals and an assist in senior season…played midfield and forward for squad that went 4-3 in county play and won a playoff game over Francis Scott Key…member of the National Honor Society…played club soccer for the Bethesda Soccer Club under head coach Gary Burke…also participated in indoor track.
 
About Cassatt: Full name is Jordan Marie Cassatt…is the daughter of Donald and Sharon Cassatt…plans to major in accounting…has three sisters, Sarah, Taylor and Shannon.
 
Coach Fulton on Cassatt: "Jordan is a target player that is strong technically, on the ball and possesses the ability to hold off PSAC defenders. She will add depth to our already talented attacking group."
 
Kennedy Chandler
Midfield/Forward • 5-8
Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area
 
Waynesboro Area Senior High School: Earned four varsity letters as a member of the Indians under head coach Brian Fisher…received All Mid-Penn Conference First Team honors as a senior and All Mid-Penn Conference Second Team honors as a junior…named a Public Opinion All Star…member of Franklin/Fulton County Four Diamonds All-Star team…led Indians in goals in junior and senior seasons…team captain during senior season…played club soccer for Boro United under head coach Brian Fisher…four-year member of the honor roll, earning a 3.8 GPA.
 
About Chandler: Full name is Kennedy Lynne Chandler…daughter of Lynn and Heather Lowman…plans to major in criminal justice…has two sisters, Taylore '19 and Brooke.
 
Coach Fulton on Chandler: "Kennedy will add depth to our attacking group in the fall. Kennedy has a strong technical ability to combine and create in the attacking third."
 
Kelsy Fitzgerald

Appoquinimink High School: Earned six varsity letters, including three in soccer entering senior season as a member of the Jaguars under head coach Wesley Kendle…named twice to the All-State team in Delaware as a center back…was a three-time All-Conference pick…served two years as a team captain…played club soccer with the Delaware Rush under head coach Dan Frick…member of National Honor Society…also played basketball and volleyball.
 
About Fitzgerald: Full name is Kelsy Lee Fitzgerald…is the daughter of Shaun and Christine Fitzgerald…plans to major in exercise science…has two brothers, Troy and Mason, and a sister, Rachael.
 
Coach Fulton on Fitzgerald: "Kelsy is a versatile player that can play a defensive role along the backline or in the midfield. She has the technical ability and physical presence to be an asset in the PSAC."
 
Morgan Glassey
Defense 5-4
Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico
 
Cocalico High School: Earned four varsity letters as a member of the Eagles under head coach Dan Hogan…started all four years as a defender for Cocalico, totaling four goals and six assists…played club soccer for Penn Legacy under coach Carli Brill…earned a 3.7 GPA.
 
About Glassey: Full name is Morgan Jo Glassey...daughter of Bill and Hollie Glassey…intended major is undeclared…has a brother, Collin.
 
Coach Fulton on Glassey: "Morgan is a talented outside back that will add to our already skilled defensive group. She has the attacking mentality we want from our outside backs and is a good 1v1 defender."
 
Paige Harris
Midfield/Forward • 5-5
Danville, Pa./Danville
 
Danville High School: Earned eight letters, including four in soccer, as a member of the Lady Ironmen under head coach Nevin Gorki…started at midfield and striker all four years of high school…earned All-PHAC first team honors in sophomore, junior and senior seasons…was an All-PHAC second team selection in freshman season…played club soccer with N.U. United under head coach Jason Duke…also played basketball, earning All-PHAC first team honors in junior and senior seasons.
 
About Harris: Full name is Paige Evelyn Harris…is the daughter of Joe and Maria Harris…has a sister, Hanna, and a brother, Joey…sister, Hanna, is the goalkeeper for Cedarville University…she has set school records for shutouts and season goals against average.
 
Coach Fulton on Harris: "Paige is a versatile attacking player that can play in the midfield or forward role. She will be able to use her playmaking ability to add to the strengths of our attacking group."
 
Courtney Merwin
Goalkeeper • 5-7
Waldorf, Md./Grace Christian Academy
 
Grace Christian Academy: Earned 11 varsity letters, including three for soccer, as a member of the Knights for head coach Alison Davis…played goalkeeper for the Knights, making 213 saves in senior season…was named to All-MISAL first team…played club soccer for Pipeline SC Black under head coach Jason Muffoletto…earned 4.277 GPA…salutatorian of her graduating class…also played basketball and track.
 
About Merwin: Full name is Courtney Jo Merwin…is the daughter of Michael and Sharon Merwin…plans to major in biology…has a brother, Brandon.
 
Coach Fulton on Merwin: "Courtney will be adding depth to our goalkeeping core. She is an athletic shot-stopper and a vocal presence when organizing the backline."
 
Anna Middleton

Manheim Central High School: Earned four varsity letters as a member of the Barons under head coach John Shetomph…scored 40 career points, including 15 goals and 10 assists…captain of team during senior season that won Section 2 championship and state quarterfinals…scored game-winning goal to win section…scored game-winning goal in district semifinal to clinch state playoff berth as a junior…played club soccer for the Pennsylvania Classics under head coach Mike Henning…member of Quill & Scroll Honor Society…was an honor roll student throughout high school.
 
About Middleton: Full name is Anna Mae Middleton…is the daughter of Bill and Louise Middleton…plans to major in communication/journalism…has a sister, Katelyn, and a brother, Will.
 
Coach Fulton on Middleton: "Anna is a creative and technical player that can play in multiple positions along the frontline and in the midfield. She combines and links up with other players and will bring a creative presence when on the field."

Manheim Township High School: Earned three letters as a member of the Lightning Bolts under head coach Mike Henning…scored six career goals and added three assists as a defender…part of starting defensive line that pitched eight shutouts during senior season…started 40 consecutive games in junior and senior seasons…named an academic all-star in senior season…named a top underclassman to watch by PennLive during junior year…played club soccer for the Pennsylvania Classics under head coach Mike Henning…also played basketball…worked to 4.2 GPA…member of National Honor Society…in top five percent of class.
 
About Rider: Full name is Olivia Marie Rider…is the daughter of Clint and Deanna Rider…plans to major in secondary education…has a brother, Colin.
 
Coach Fulton on Rider: "Olivia is an outside-defender and adds a strong field intelligence when releasing out of the back. Her technical ability to get forward from our backline will provide more depth to our group of backs."
