The Shippensburg University baseball team traveled to Shepherd on Tuesday and the Raiders could not complete a comeback from an early deficit, dropping a 6-4 non-conference game to the Rams on a brisk afternoon at Fairfax Field.

Shippensburg (14-18) was playing Shepherd (16-8) for the second straight Tuesday. The Raiders hosted last week's meeting and posted a 7-4 win.

It was the Rams who took a 6-0 lead through six innings in this meeting, but Shippensburg rallied for three runs in the seventh and another in the ninth. The Raiders stranded a pair of runners in each of the last two innings during their rally.

SU cranked out 12 hits on Tuesday. Sophomore
Dalton Hoiles was 3-for-5 with an RBI, while sophomore
Grant Hoover was 2-for-5 including a two-run single. Sophomore
Nick Spangler had two hits, including a double, while freshman
Cash Gladfelter came off the bench and was 2-for-2 while serving as the backup shortstop.

Senior
Seth LeFever made the start and worked three innings. Redshirt-freshman
Tyler Butcher worked 1.1 innings while senior
Kyle McClintock got the final two outs of the fifth and threw the final 3.2 innings overall.

McClintock, who got the win last Tuesday against the Rams, did not allow a run in his 3.2 innings of relief while striking out three.

Both teams left 10 runners on base. The Raiders committed four errors on Tuesday compared to one by Shepherd.

Shippensburg hosts East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m. Friday in a PSAC East doubleheader from Fairchild Field.
