The Shippensburg University baseball team is continuing its annual tradition of raising funds and collecting donations for the Vs. Cancer foundation, an organization that works to assist childen dealing with cancer.
Vs. Cancer, a non-profit organization, is "dedicated to saving kids' lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts."
Shippensburg baseball has maintained this tradition for several seasons, including many players shaving their heads in seasons past in a show of support and solidarity for those affected by cancer. Half of all SU proceeds benefit national childhood cancer research, and the other half goes toward children directly undergoing treatment at a local children's hospital.
This year, however, SHIP Baseball has been close with Colby Bubb, a 10-year-old boy from Boiling Springs who is battling muscular cancer. Colby is a huge baseball fan, and SU Baseball players have visited his practices and games. More information on Colby and his battle, #ColbyStrong, is available at the link above and also
HERE.Â
Colby will be on hand this Saturday to throw out a ceremonial first pitch against West Chester before the 1 p.m. doubleheader with the Golden Rams. Come on out this Saturday and support Colby out at Fairchild Field. The link to SU Baseball's Vs. Cancer page is both above and
