The Shippensburg University volleyball team won two matches Friday at a weekend tournament hosted by Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia.
Shippensburg (4-1) defeated Concord in four sets by scores of 24-26, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-13. SU then defeated Virginia-Wise in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.
Freshman
Morgan DeFloria was the only Raider to achieve double-digit kills in both matches on Friday. Her team-high 25 kills for the day included 14 against Concord and 11 against Virginia-Wise. She swung an accurate .348 from the floor in the nightcap and a sturdy .271 for the day.
Junior
Maura Nolan had yet another splendid day of setting, providing 37 assists against Concord and 34 against Virginia-Wise while sneaking in six kills, five block assists, two aces and 14 digs.
Senior
Taylor Gottshall moved into triple figures for career aces; she now has 101 for her career after recording one in each match on Friday. Gottshall was a force to be reckoned with in the nightcap against the Cavaliers, recording nine kills to just one error (hitting .250) and slamming nine blocks (including three solo). For the day, Gottshall had a hand in 17 blocks and totaled 14 kills.
Senior
Faith Athey had 10 kills and three blocks against Virginia-Wise and finished the day with 15 kills and seven blocks. Junior
Rebecca Pryor made a big impact at the net off the bench, totaling two solo blocks and nine block assists on the day. In the opener against Concord, Pryor provided five kills and six blocks.
Sophomore
Maria Peluso had a double-double against the Mountain Lions with 10 kills and 10 digs while also serving a career-high seven aces. The seven aces are the most in a match by an SU player since Lauren Bauer had seven against Cheyney on Sept. 29, 2011.

Courtney Malott and senior
Laura Plank all had double-digit digs in both contests, with Plank totaling a team-high 29 digs on the day. Malott had 12 digs in each match and compiled seven aces between the two contests.
Shippensburg will face Bluefield State at 9 a.m. Saturday before taking on Alderson Broaddus at 2 p.m.
