SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team started fast Tuesday and sustained its momentum in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-19) sweep of Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match inside Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (23-8, 12-6 PSAC) stormed out to a 12-3 advantage in the first set on its way to a 14-point win. In the second set, the run was delayed a bit, but SU won 10-of-11 points, including eight-in-a-row to turn a 9-6 lead into a 19-7 advantage.

SU trailed Millersville (14-14, 5-13 PSAC) as late as 15-14 in the third set, but took control by winning six of seven points. The Raiders hit .261 as a team in the victory.

Junior
Annie Goerl's fantastic night led the Raider charge. The lefty recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. Goerl hit an impressive .500, converting 15 kills on 30 total attacks with no errors. The 15 kills are a season-high for Goerl and the most in her career in a three-set match.

Taylor Gottshall combined for 14 kills and six blocks on the night.

Shippensburg will play its final four matches of the regular season on the road, beginning Friday at Cheyney with a 7 p.m. start.
