SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team dropped its first set Saturday before winning the next three with increasing ease in a 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-8) victory over Lock Haven in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (22-8, 11-6 PSAC) had a fine hitting day, posting a .234 mark across the four-set match. Four different Raider players hit double-digit kills as the team had 59 kills for the afternoon.

Freshman
Morgan DeFloria hit .395 on her way to a team-high 16 kills with just one error. Senior middle blocker
Taylor Gottshall was outstanding again, recording 15 kills to go along with three block assists.

Junior
Annie Goerl added another double-double with 12 kills and 20 digs. Senior
Faith Athey hit 11 kills on 24 total attacks to pair with two block assists.

After dropping the first set, the Raiders allowed four straight points to Lock Haven (16-11, 8-8) in the second set that put the Lady Eagles up 11-8. SU responded with an impressive run of eight straight points, and then never trailed again on its way to a 25-22 set-two victory.

The Raiders limited Lock Haven to a .070 hitting percentage in the third-set win before putting on a hitting clinic in the fourth set. SU hit a ridiculous .552 in the fourth set, converting 17 kills on 29 total attacks.

Laura Plank led SU with 22 digs. Junior
Maura Nolan had 10 digs in accompaniment to her match-best 48 assists.

The Raiders continue a run of home matches Tuesday, when they host Millersville at 7 p.m.
