The Shippensburg University volleyball team was defeated Tuesday evening in a non-conference road match at Shepherd by set scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-18.
Â
Shippensburg (6-7) was not able to generate much of an attack, managing just 22 kills. Freshman
Courtney Malott paced the team with eight, while sophomore
Annie Goerl had five.
Â
Junior
Taylor Gottshall, who became SU's all-time block assists leader on Saturday, added four total blocks to her total on Tuesday (two solo, two assists). Fellow junior
Faith Athey was credited with five blocks. Both ladies had three kills.
Â
SU did manage seven aces, but the team was unable to defend against a .237 hitting percentage for Shepherd (7-4). Of the 12 total errors for the Rams on the night, 11 were the result of blocks by the Raiders.
Shippensburg remains on the road this weekend for back-to-back matchups against Eastern Division opponents. The Raiders play at Cheyney at 7 p.m. Friday before remaining in the area to face West Chester at 1 p.m. Saturday.
