SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University volleyball team hosted its first PSAC crossover since 2011 on Friday, dropping a pair of hard-fought matches against Western Division opponents.
SU fell in four sets to Seton Hill (22-25, 20-25, 25-22, 20-25) and three sets to California (24-26, 24-26, 18-25).
Junior
Taylor Gottshall led SU on the day with 22 kills. Sophomore
Annie Goerl had 11 kills against the Griffins, while junior
Faith Athey added 10 kills against the Vulcans.
In the nightcap, Cal rallied from an 18-12 deficit in the opening set to claim it in extra points, while Shippensburg did a valiant job of rallying from a 16-7 deficit to later take a 23-22 lead in the frame.
SU will host Clarion at 10 a.m. Saturday before facing IUP at 6 p.m.
