SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Shippensburg University softball will host six weeks of fastpitch clinics on Sunday afternoons beginning November 2 through December 14, with no clinic being held November 30 because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The lessons will be offered to ages 8-17, with three one-hour sessions available each weekend.
A pitching session will run from 1-2 p.m. each Sunday, with hitting sessions scheduled for 2-3 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.
All sessions will be held in Henderson Gymnasium on the Shippensburg University campus.
The pitching and hitting clinics will feature instruction by Head Coach
Bob Brookens and SU assistant coaches
Alison Van Scyoc (Pittman),
Ben DeShong and
Jim Mullan. Members of the Shippensburg University softball team will also be assisting with the sessions along with a couple of other coaches from nearby programs.
The clinics are directed by Brookens, a member of the South Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. Brookens has been active in the area for over 25 years as a coach. He has guided the Raiders to three PSAC Championships and two NCAA regional championships.
There will be no more than 20 participants per session and they will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
