SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Ten Shippensburg University softball players have earned classifications as 2025-26 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes.
 
To be recognized as a NFCA Scholar-Athlete, each player must have achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Unlike some other sports that use cumulative GPA for their annual academic honors, the NFCA assesses student-athletes on a yearly basis for their award standards, hence the 3.5 mark maintained during the academic year.
 
Of Shippensburg's 10 honorees, six are repeat award winners.
 
It is the third consecutive NFCA Scholar-Athlete award for juniors Reagan Bauman, Madalyn Dyer and Sarah Sabocsik. Caitlyn Martell is also a three-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete; she was previous recognized as a freshman in 2022-23 and as a sophomore in 2023-24.
 
Rilee Ehrlacher and Emma Hussein are now two-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete award winners. Ehrlacher was previously recognized as a sophomore in 2023-24; it is the second straight year that Hussein has been honored.
 
It is the first NFCA Scholar-Athlete classification for Gianna Cimino, Mikayla Fontana, Lindsey Haser and Emilee Sullivan.
 
The NFCA will announce its full list of Scholar-Athletes and Team GPA award winners in August.
