The Shippensburg University volleyball team struggled on Tuesday evening in an important road match at Millersville, dropping a straight-set decision to the Marauders by set scores of 21-25, 20-25 and 24-26.

Neither Shippensburg (14-14, 7-11 PSAC) nor Millersville (12-15, 5-13) swung greater than .123 as a team, combining for 40 attack errors. SU committed 11 service errors and yielded six aces, while MU had a negative hitting percentage in the first set but still won the frame.

Annie Goerl paced the Raiders with 11 kills and had 14 digs for her fourth straight double-double, while freshman
Courtney Malott posted 10 kills and 11 digs, swinging .214, en route to her third double-double of the year.

Rebecca Pryor was credited as SU's most efficient hitter of the night, clubbing seven kills to just one error and posting a .545 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Maura Nolan added 31 assists and junior
Laura Plank led the team from the back row with 16 digs.

The Marauders benefited from 11 blocks, including seven assisted by Kayla Wallace (who also led Millersville with 10 kills). SU junior
Taylor Gottshall had five block assists as the Raiders had seven total blocks.

With two weeks remaining of conference play, SU is clinging to fourth place by one game over Kutztown and two games over Millersville. The Raiders split the season series with the Marauders and will be at the Golden Bears on Saturday having already lost to Kutztown at home.

Shippensburg remains on the road this weekend, first facing East Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. Friday.
