Game 1: Shippensburg 12, Barton 4

A decisive eight-run sixth inning propelled Shippensburg to a 12-4 victory in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

After Barton took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the opener, the lead exchanged hands in each of the next two innings. SU went up 2-1 in the third inning after a two-run double by Spanos but fell behind in the fourth after a three-run frame for the Bulldogs.

The decisive sixth inning started out with a walk by Kregeloh and a single by Basso. A sacrifice bunt by senior Jimmy Miller prefaced a two-run double by junior catcher Steve Sulcoski that tied the game at 4-4.

A walk to Ben Miller chased Barton starter Kyle Norville. A wild pitch by reliever Christian Oliver moved both runners into scoring position, and a sacrifice fly by Herman put the Raiders up, 5-4.

Shippensburg kept the slugging going by adding five more runs with two outs – chasing two Bulldog relievers in the process. An RBI-single by Kulp, a two-run double by Beloff and a two-run homer by Kregeloh built SU's 10-4 lead after six.

The Raiders added two more in the eighth. Kulp doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Beloff. Freshman Cody Ezolt got a two-out infield single and advanced to second on the play when the throw to first went awry. Ezolt eventually scored on a single by Basso.

Sophomore Shawn Patterson entered the game in the third and ended up with the victory, allowing three runs in four innings of work. Junior Josh Scott pitched the first two innings.

Williams, junior Cam Richardson and Kibler each pitched one scoreless inning of relief.

Game 2: Barton 16, Shippensburg 5

Barton scored seven runs in the first three innings and added six more in the fifth to record a decisive victory in the series finale.

Shippensburg (3-3) raced out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning off a three-run homer by Kulp. Herman and Spanos drew walks to open the game before Kulp deposited a 1-1 pitch over the center-field fence.

The Bulldogs answered with two in the bottom of the first on a two-out double and eventually chased SU junior starter Tom Bush in the second after a leadoff homer, two walks and a wild pitch.

Barton tallied three home runs and five doubles in the contest, scoring six runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

Bush took the loss, with Williams, sophomore Austin Bartley, Jimmy Miller, Kibler and Basso working in relief. Bartley allowed three runs (one earned) in 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.

Shippensburg's other runs came on a sacrifice fly in the fourth by Herman and an RBI-single in the sixth by Ben Miller.
