BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Shippensburg University men's swimming team won six events in a dual meet at Canisius College on Saturday afternoon inside the Koessler Athletic Center Pool. Freshman Mitch Paczesniak won the 1,000 freestyle and the 400 IM to lead the Red Raiders.

Canisius won the dual meet by a score of 148-132 yet diving points appear to have been counted. The Griffins were swimming in their home opener against the Red Raiders.

Paczesniak handily won the 1,000 freestyle by more than 22 seconds over his teammate, sophomore Chris Torrens. Near the end of the meet, Paczesniak won the 400 IM by more than four seconds over Canisius swimmer Randall Snodgrass.

The 400-freestyle relay squad of sophomore Tim Smullen, junior Nate Ryan, freshman Shawn Robbins and senior Gabe Oropollo won their event with a time of 3:20.81.

Senior Kevin Riley won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.25 seconds, while junior Brian Taylor won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.43. Ryan won the 100-yard backstroke for the Red Raiders.
