The Shippensburg University women's tennis team resumed its 2025-26 season Saturday by starting out the spring "championship" portion of its schedule with a 7-0 win at York on a sunny afternoon at the Myers Tennis Complex.

Shippensburg (2-2) and York (1-3) began with the doubles point going down to the wire. SU won No. 3 doubles via forfeit, and the Spartans claimed the No. 1 flight by a 6-2 score.

The Raider duo of
Rachel Gallagher and
Jade Miller went into a tiebreaker at the decisive No. 2 flight and emerged victorious, 7-6 (7-3).

Corinne Markovich claimed a victory at No. 1 singles by winning her first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3), and taking the second set 6-2. Her No. 1 doubles partner,
Yasmin De Meyer, won 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.

Miller endured another battle in her singles match – the longest of the day. After dropping the first set 6-1, Miller rallied to take the second set by the same score. She then went 6-0 to claim the win.

Gallagher won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and
Brinley Orris won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Shippensburg hosts Juniata at noon Friday at Robb Sports Complex.
