The Shippensburg University volleyball team won two matches on the final day of the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament, defeating American International College and Goldey-Beacom to conclude its opening weekend with three wins in four matches.

Shippensburg (3-1) finished the day hitting .219 with 106 kills. Hailey Cappleman, Gracen Nutt and Elise Bragg contributed 76 of those kills. Cappleman led the Raiders with 27 kills over the course of two matches, hitting .328 from the floor.

Nutt contributed 25 kills, hitting .254 from the floor and added two aces. Bragg added 24 kills, 21 digs and three aces.
Kearstin Davis dished out 80 assists over the course of two matches and tacked on four kills, three aces and 25 digs. Shay Kolivoski led the defense with 35 digs and four aces over the two matches.
Cappleman and Kolivoski were named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the weekend.
Shippensburg returns to action next weekend at the Bobcat Invitational, where it will first take on Ohio Dominican at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12.

Shippensburg 3, American International 1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16)Â
The Raiders took an early lead after a 5-0 run that featured an ace from Davis and a pair of kills from Isabelle Bombas. The Yellow Jackets cut the deficit to three, 14-11. Nutt delivered two kills to increase the SU lead to five, 19-14. AIC completed a 6-0 run off three Raider errors to gain the lead, 21-20. Bragg finished the set for the Raiders with a trio of kills, 25-22.

Set two started with eight ties before the Yellow Jackets took a two-point lead, 14-12. They increased their lead after a 3-0 run, 18-14. With the Yellow Jackets at set point, SU went on a 5-0 run to try to tie the set, 24-21. Ultimately, AIC took the set two victory, 25-21.

SU saw its first lead of set three after going on a 9-1 scoring stretch, 16-9. The Yellow Jackets cut their deficit to three after a 4-0 run, 16-13. Bombas sparked a 4-0 run for the Raiders that included an ace from Bragg, 20-13. The Raiders arrived to set point after a Bragg kill, 24-17. Natalya Montague closed the set with a kill to give the Raiders the 2-1 advantage.
Set four started in similar fashion as set three. The Raiders completed an 11-1 scoring stretch that featured four kills from Cappleman, 18-9. Bragg delivered her second ace of the match to help the Raiders go on a 4-0 run to increase the lead, 22-10. Davis delivered a kill to put Ship at set point, 24-14. Montague closed the match with a kill, 25-16.

Bragg paced SU with a career-high 18 kills, hitting .341 from the floor on committing just four errors on 41 swings. She added 11 digs to complete her first double-double of her Raider career. Cappleman added 15 kills and an ace. Davis controlled the offense with 43 assists. Â
The Yellow Jackets collected 36 kills during the match with a hitting percentage of .103. Renata Mijovic led AIC with eight kills while Daniella Russo-Lolas added 27 assists.
Shippensburg 3, Goldey-Beacom 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-21)
Set one started with a 6-1 scoring stretch from the Raiders that included two kills from Nutt and a service ace from Kolivoski, 7-3. The Lightning came within one after a 3-0 run, 14-13. Kolivoski added her second ace of the match to help the Raiders complete a 3-0 run, 17-13. SU ended the set on a 5-0 run that ended with an ace from Sophia Barrera, 25-18.
The Raiders carried the momentum into set two, opening with a 3-0 run that included Kolivoski's third ace. A pair of kills from Cappleman, sparked a 9-0 run from the Raiders, 14-2. Goldey-Beacom completed a 5-1 scoring stretch to cut the deficit to eight, 16-8. A kill from Bombas put the Raiders at set point, 24-15. An error from the Lightning claimed set two for the Raiders, 25-15.
Davis opened set three with an ace. A 4-0 run that started with a Bombas kill increased the lead to 5-2. A 3-0 run from the Lightning put them within two, 14-12. With Berkley Simmons on the service line the Raiders completed a 3-0 run to put them ahead by five, 18-13. Davis added an ace to put the Raiders at set point, 24-20. Bombas and Clara Wildermuth teamed up for block to get the final point, 25-21.

Cappleman led the Raider offense with 12 kills, hitting .458 from the floor, only committing one error on 24 swings. Nutt added 11 kills with a .281 hitting percentage.
Shippensburg added finished the match with 12 aces, Kolivoski and Simmons contributed three apiece. Simmons paced the defense with 13 digs and Kolivoski added 12.Â
Goldey-Beacom's offense was led by Kelci Gingras who delivered 11 kills and 10 digs. Juliana Malena and Ada Koksal each added 14 assists for the Lightning.
