The Shippensburg University women's tennis team put forth a strong effort Friday afternoon but could not come away with a victory, dropping a 6-1 decision at West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at the South Campus Courts.

Shippensburg (8-12, 1-4 PSAC East) began its clash against West Chester (6-13, 2-3) with doubles, in which sophomore
Ava Kalist and senior
Kendall Winters came away with a 7-6 (7-5) victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Golden Rams claimed the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 and a 6-0 win at No. 2.

Sophomore
Brinley Orris claimed SU's point with a win at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Orris posted her team-leading eighth victory of the season and is now 7-5 this season at No. 6 singles.

Junior
Corinne Markovich won four games at No. 1 singles, while freshman
Jade Miller and sophomore
Rachel Gallagher each won three games at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively.

Shippensburg is scheduled to host Bloomsburg at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Robb Sports Complex for the final match of the regular season. Beforehand, the Raiders will honor Winters and
Brooklynn Rupert for Senior Day.
