SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Bowie State on Monday in its final non-conference match of the season at warm and sunny Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (8-10) received contributions from eight players in the match, as Bowie State (2-14) featured just four competitors.

SU's eighth victory marks its most in a single season in 24 years (15-9 in 2000-01).

In doubles, senior
Brooklynn Rupert and freshman
Jade Miller comprised the No. 1 pairing and came away with a hard-fought 6-3 victory. The tandem of sophomores
Rachel Gallagher and
Brinley Orris achieved a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Senior
Kendall Winters was given the assignment at No. 1 singles and recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory – her first ever at the top flight. It was the first time since her freshman season (2021-22) and just the third time in her career that Winters played at No. 1 singles.

Sophomore
Ava Kalist and Bowie's Kayla Lowery went nearly 90 minutes in a competitive match at No. 2 singles, Kalist emerged the victor by a score of 6-4, 6-4.

Freshman
Lauren Seip and sophomore
Janelle Kingsboro each won their first collegiate singles match. Seip won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Kingboro claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

SU completes its regular season this week with three conference matches, beginning 4 p.m. Wednesday at Millersville.
