SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team rallied from an early deficit to play a back-and-forth game with Bloomsburg on Wednesday, but the Raiders dropped a 15-14 decision to the Huskies in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Robb Sports Complex.
Shippensburg (5-3, 0-3 PSAC East) and Bloomsburg (5-3, 1-2) combined for 10 tie scores and four lead changes. After the Huskies raced out to a 4-1 lead at the 6:53 mark of the first quarter, the Raiders answered with three goals in a five-minute span to tie the game at 4-4.

No team led by more than two goals for the remainder of the match.

The teams combined for 61 turnovers and 14 failed clears. The decisive tally was scored with 2:26 remaining by Bloomsburg defender AnnMarie Davenport, who caught an errant clearing pass near midfield, ran into the offensive zone and scored a goal on her first collegiate shot attempt.

Freshman
Maddie Phommachanh was one of three Raiders who finished with hat tricks. Phommachanh scored four goals and added a pair of caused turnovers and groundballs.

Ali Pioli had a five-point day, finishing with three goals, two assists and three draw controls. Senior
Jamie Carvin had a hat trick and two groundballs.

Sophomore
Olivia Glinski scored a goal and matched a career high with three assists. Junior
Shannon Wood scored twice. Both Glinski and Wood had two groundballs and a caused turnover.

Sara Vosburg had a goal and an assist along with two draw controls and a caused turnover. She also tied for the team high with four groundballs.

Annie Rathgeb had a team-high three caused turnovers and groundballs. Fellow senior
Francesca Picone had a solid effort particularly in the fourth quarter – she tied Vosburg for the team high with four groundballs and had two caused turnovers.

Kayla Vosburg made seven saves in 51 minutes of action in goal for the Raiders. Freshman
Emily Huber got the start and patrolled the cage for the opening eight minutes.

Grace DeMarzio finished with a team-high five draw controls along with a caused turnover and a groundball. DeMarzio became the 10th player in school history to record 100 career draw controls.

The Huskies got a hat trick and 12 draw controls from Marykate Sitko. Bloomsburg finished with a 19-14 advantage in draw controls, including a 6-1 edge in the fourth quarter. Brianna Austin and Mia Boccippio also scored hat tricks, and senior goalkeeper Laurel Foley made nine saves. Reiley Knize had three groundballs and three caused turnovers.
