SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team concluded its home regular season schedule with a senior day sweep over Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup Saturday at Heiges Field House. Set scores were 25-13, 25-23 and 29-27.
Shippensburg (20-6, 12-0) ended the match with 42 kills and a .200 hitting percentage. Bloomsburg (8-18, 0-12) recorded 31 kills and hit .126 from the floor. The Raiders delivered eight aces to the Huskies six. Bloomsburg out-blocked Shippensburg, seven to six.
The Raider offense was led by
Gracen Nutt who recorded 12 kills with a .346 hitting percentage. Nutt added eight digs, an ace and a block assist.
Hailey Cappleman recorded eight kills, hitting .263 from the floor and tacked on an ace, a solo block and three block assists.
Kearstin Davis handed out 27 assists and added seven digs, two aces and a block assist.
Shay Kolivoski led the defense with a match-high 18 digs.
Cappleman opened set one with an ace to put the Raiders up by two. Nutt notched a pair of kills and Davis delivered an ace to increase the Raider lead, 6-2. Bloomsburg answered with a 4-1 scoring stretch to cut its deficit to one, 7-6. The Raiders capitalized off three Husky errors to go on a 5-0 run, 12-6. Davis recorded her second ace of the set, 20-11. SU closed set one with a 5-1 scoring stretch, 25-13.
After exchanging leads, Bloomsburg completed a 5-0 run to take the lead, 10-5. A kill from Davis and an ace from
Sophia Barrera cut the SU deficit to three, 11-8. The Huskies responded with a 4-1 scoring stretch, 15-9. A 7-1 scoring stretch from the Raiders tied the set at 16. Bloomsburg was quick to respond with a 3-0 run, 19-16. Cappleman and Bragg recorded kills to tie the set once again at 19-19. Bloomsburg answered with a 2-0 run, 21-19.
Jaiden Anderson checked into the match and delivered an ace to take over the lead, 22-21. Barrera notched her second ace of the set to put the Raiders at match point, 24-22. Nutt ended the set with a kill, 25-23.
SU saw its first lead of the third set after a 3-0 run, 7-3. Bloomsburg answered with a 5-1 scoring stretch to cut the deficit to one, 9-8.
Berkley Simmons recorded an ace to put SU up by two, 10-8. The Huskies took the lead after a 2-0 run, 13-12. Bloomsburg stayed in the lead until set point, 24-20. With Anderson on the service line the Raiders defended four straight set points to get their own match point, 25-24. Bloomsburg completed a 2-0 run to get their sixth set point, 26-25. After a Husky error and a kill from Nutt, SU got its second match point, 27-26. The Huskies came back with a kill to tie the set at 27. Cappleman delivered a kill and got the Huskies out of system on her serve to end the match, 29-27.
The Bloomsburg offense was led by Marlee Johnson, who recorded a match-high 15 kills with a .323 hitting percentage. Erin Clark dished out 15 assists and Jessica Rimbo added 12. The Husky defense was led by Allison Saalfrank who recorded 14 digs.
SU honored its four-member senior class before the start of Saturday's match:

Kayla Johnson and Simmons.
Shippensburg will close out the regular season with two road matches, first traveling to East Stroudsburg on Friday for a 6 p.m. start time before taking on Kutztown on Saturday at 4 p.m.
