The Shippensburg University volleyball team suffered a four-set road loss at East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup on Friday night. Set scores were 25-23, 19-25, 13-25 and 21-25.

Shippensburg (20-7, 12-1) recorded 51 kills in the match and hit .108 from the floor. East Stroudsburg (22-5, 12-1) finished the match hitting .195 with 47 kills. The Warriors delivered seven aces to the Raiders four. ESU out-blocked SU 14-to-5.

The Raider offense was led by
Isabelle Bombas who recorded 10 kills and hit .450 from the floor. Bombas added a solo block and block assist.
Gracen Nutt and
Elise Bragg both added nine kills. Bragg tallied 13 digs and Nutt added two block assists.

Kearstin Davis dished out 34 assists and tallied 22 digs, four kills, and an ace.
Shay Kolivoski added 21 digs and four assists.

East Stroudsburg completed an early 5-1 scoring stretch to take the first lead of the match, 6-3. A kill from Nutt and a Warrior error put the Raiders within one, 8-7. ESU responded with a 4-1 scoring stretch to claim a four-point lead, 12-8.
Hailey Cappleman notched a kill that sparked a 4-0 run for SU to tie the set at 13. Bragg and Bombas delivered kills to put the Raiders in the lead, 15-14. Two SU errors gave the lead back to the Warriors, 17-16. Down by four, the Raiders completed a late 5-0 run that featured an ace from Cappleman to arrive at set point, 24-23. Bombas closed set one with a block, 25-23.

The Warriors opened set two with a 2-0 run. SU responded with a 4-0 run that included Cappleman's second ace of the match, 5-3. ESU completed a 4-0 run to take the lead, 9-7. A kill from Nutt and an ESU error tied the set at nine. ESU put together a 3-0 run to take a four-point lead, 16-12. Bragg notched back-to-back kills to put the Raiders within two, 16-14. A 3-0 Raider run tied the set at 17. An 8-2 scoring stretch for the East Stroudsburg closed set two in favor of ESU, 25-19.

ESU carried the momentum into the third set opening with a 10-1 scoring stretch. Ultimately the deficit was too large for the Raiders and the Warriors took set three, 25-13.

Davis delivered an ace to start the fourth set. After exchanging one-point leads, the Warriors went on a 3-1 scoring stretch, 11-8. Kills from
Natalya Montague and
Clara Wildermuth put the Raiders within two, 13-11. SU completed a 5-0 run to take the lead at 19-17. With the score 20-18, ESU answered with a 6-0 run to arrive at match point. The Warriors closed the match with a kill, 25-21.

Kelly Crites led the Warrior offense with a match-high 16 kills and hit .211 from the floor. Anna Coulter had nine kills and 10 blocks (including two solo). Kyra Bishop handed out 39 assists and tallied a kill, solo block, four block assists and 10 digs. The ESU defense was led by Marta Leeland, who recorded a match-high 24 digs.

By winning a set Friday night, Shippensburg would hold a head-to-head tiebreaker over East Stroudsburg if such a scenario were to occur. The Raiders swept ESU earlier in the season, resulting in a 4-3 total edge in sets won.

Shippensburg will finish the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday at Kutztown. The Golden Bears, who defeated Shepherd in five sets Friday night, will be vying for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Division. Â
