SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team completed a successful weekend Saturday with a convincing straight-set victory over Millersville, sweeping the Marauders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Heiges Field House. Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.
 
Shippensburg (18-6, 10-0 PSAC East) hit .205 from the floor, recording 44 kills. Millersville (6-18, 1-9 PSAC East) ended the match hitting .056 and tallying 23 kills. The Raiders served seven aces to the Marauders' two. Millersville out-blocked SU six to five.
 
Hailey Cappleman paced the Raider offense with 11 kills and a .474 hitting percentage. Cappleman committed just two errors on 19 total swings.
 
Kearstin Davis dished out 37 assists and tallied six digs, an ace and a block assist. Shay Kolivoski led the SU defense with a match-high 20 digs and added an ace and two assists. Berkley Simmons delivered a match-high three service aces and added eight digs.
 
SU got a four-point lead in the first set after a 3-0 run that included a pair of kills from Elise Bragg, 8-4. The Marauders cut their deficit to two after a 2-0 run, 8-6. A kill from Gracen Nutt sparked a 3-0 run to increase the Raider lead, 14-9. Millersville notched a 4-1 scoring stretch that put the Marauders back within one, 16-15. The Raiders responded with a pair of kills from Isabelle Bombas and a kill from Clara Wildermuth, 19-15. The Raiders closed out set one with a 5-0 run that ended with an Kolivoski ace, 25-17. SU hit .288 in set one – the best of the match for the Raiders.
 
The Raiders opened set two with a 5-1 scoring stretch that featured kills from Nutt and Cappleman. Three straight points from the Marauders cut the deficit to one, 7-6. Simmons served back-to-back aces that helped the Raiders complete a 4-0 run, 12-7. The Marauders answered with a 5-1 scoring stretch that put them back within one, 13-12. With Davis on the service line the Raiders went on a 7-0 run, 21-13. A block from Bombas and Mya Davis ended set two in favor of the Raiders, 25-16.
 
Shippensburg carried the momentum into the third set and completed an early 5-0 run that featured Simmons' third ace of the match, 8-4. A 6-0 run for SU that included a pair of kills from both Cappleman and Nutt increased the lead, 15-6. Millersville came within five after a 4-0 run, 15-10. An attack error from the Marauders and a Cappleman kill put the Raiders up by eight, 20-12. The Marauders notched a late 3-0 run to cut the deficit, 20-15. Jaiden Anderson delivered an ace and completed a 3-0 SU run, 23-15. Nutt delivered the final kill of the match, 25-17.
 
The Millersville offense was led by Becca Hartranft who recorded seven kills, eight digs and two block assists. Kat Dalessio dished out 10 assists and tacked on five digs. The Marauders two aces came from Trinity Baldwin who added six assists and five digs. Sidonia Cecco paced the Millersville defense with 16 digs and four assists.
 
Shippensburg will remain at home on Friday to take on Lock Haven at 6 p.m. at Heiges Field House.
