The Shippensburg University women's tennis team posted a road win at Clarion on Wednesday, winning 6-1 over the Golden Eagles in a non-conference match at Campbell Courts.

Shippensburg (2-1) and Clarion (1-3) had to navigate through a rain delay of nearly 80 minutes before taking to the courts, and the Raiders captured the early momentum with the doubles point by virtue of wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flight.

Jade Miller teamed up for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, while senior

Ava Kalist teamed up for a 6-1 win at no. 3 doubles. Senior

Rachel Gallagher won four games at No. 1 doubles.

SU won five of the six singles matches, winning all of the flights from No. 2 through No. 6. Rupert won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles; Gallagher won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Miller won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Kalist battled to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles to improve to 3-0 on the season. Sophomore
Brinley Orris won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Clarion's Davan Lion posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Markovich and partnered with Josie Beckerleg for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Last year, Clarion defeated SU by a 4-3 score during the fall.

Shippensburg is back in action in a week, hosting Gettysburg at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Robb Sports Complex.
