SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University softball team stayed resilient in Game 1 and beat Bloomsburg 2-1 in the eighth inning, while in Game 2, the Raiders used a three-run home run by freshman
Lindsey Haser to take an early lead to take the sweep over the Huskies in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Robb Field.
Shippensburg (12-7, 6-2 PSAC East) trailed the first five innings in Game 1 against Bloomsburg (8-15, 3-2), but did not tie the game until a solo home run by graduate
Hannah Marsteller in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Raiders never trailed against Bloomsburg in Game 2 after the three-run line drive home run by Haser in the bottom of the second. SU took the victory in Game 2, 5-3.
Eight of the 12 different Raiders had at least one hit, including three hits from junior

Katelyn Minney had two hits and two walks.
Haser led the team with three RBIs and added two hits, while fellow freshman Caitlin Martell had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Martell's defence at shortstop helped the Raiders prevent hits or runs to come from Bloomsburg; she was perfect on all 19 of her defensive chances on the day. Freshman
Rilee Ehrlacher drew two walks.
The starting pitcher for game 2, junior
Maelynn Leber, also batted and had two hits. Senior

Game 1: Shippensburg 2, Bloomsburg 1 (eight innings)
Bloomsburg struck first with a run scored in the second inning. The Huskies were threatening again in the top of the fourth with the bases loaded and one out, but Flattery came in and induced a foul out and a fielder's choice to escape with no runs scored.
Through the first five innings of play, SU only had two hits, a double by Martell in the first inning and Ehrlacher's first collegiate hit in the bottom of the fifth.
SU entered the bottom of the eighth with the top of the lineup and leadoff hitter Myers delivered with a single up the middle. Marsteller continued the momentum with a double to left center and have Myers set on third base for the go-ahead winning run. Junior
Morgan Lindsay hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Myers beats the throw at home and SU takes the 2-1 victory.
The Raiders held the reigning PSAC Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week, Callie Sowers to only four strikeouts. Sowers averages 8.2 strikeouts per game.
Game 2: Shippensburg 5, Bloomsburg 3
The Raiders looked to continue the momentum from Game 1 into the first inning with a hit by Myers and a walk by Marsteller, but the Huskies were able to get the second and third out on a double play.
In the bottom of the second, Minney and Ehrlacher drew walks, while Leber singled to right field. The Raiders had two runners on base with two outs before Haser sent a line drive home run to left field for her first collegiate home run that gave SU the 3-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Bloomsburg loaded the bases and scored one run with one out, but
Leber and the Raiders defence got out of the bases loaded jam with two fielder's choices.
SU extended the lead to 4-1 after Martell scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning. BU's Emma Little hit a solo home run to reduce the deficit to two runs. The Raiders answered in the bottom of the sixth inning with back-to-back singles from Leber and Haser, then a sacrifice fly by Martell to bring home pinch runner sophomore
Emma Mackulin for a 5-2 lead.
Bloomsburg hit another home run in the top of the seventh with one out but was unable to score anymore runs as Flattery induced a fly out to left field and a pop up to shortstop.
