RECAP: Softball falls at Millersville

Leber went 3-for-5

The Shippensburg University softball team struggled to find its hitting spot and was swept by Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division on Monday afternoon at Seaber Stadium. The Raiders lost Game 1, 10-1 in five innings and Game 2, 2-1.

Shippensburg (12-9, 6-4PSAC East) only had eight hits and committed three errors. Junior Maelynn Leber was 3-for-5 and was also the starting pitcher for Game 2. Leber threw 5.1 innings and allowed six hits and had five strike outs.

The PSAC East Athlete of the Week, graduate Hannah Marsteller had a lone home run in Game 1 to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Marsteller also had a hit on Game 2.

In Game 2, the Raiders took a 1-0 lead after a Millersville (16-14, 5-5) error, but was short lived as the Marauders hit three consecutive doubles to take a 2-1 lead. SU did have a chance on the top of the seventh to tie the game with a single by Leber and junior Taylor Myers to have two runners on base but the Marauders were able to get the third out on foul territory.

Shippensburg will travel to West Chester tomorrow for another PSAC matchup at 1 p.m.
