RECAP: Men’s Soccer suffers loss to West Chester, 2–0

Willoughby makes seven saves in goal

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team suffered a loss to West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) conference matchup on Wednesday evening at David See Field.

Two goals in 17 minutes of action, one in each half, got the job done for West Chester (9–2–3, 6–1–2 PSAC East) after suffering a 2–1 loss last time out against Shippensburg (4–6–2, 1–5–1). Peter Tichy opened the scoring with a goal in the 40th minute and Ian Alicea doubled the West Chester lead in the 57th minute.

It was an even opening to the match as both teams saw several chances near goal, but nothing threatening. Junior Victor Vottero took the Raiders' only shot on target in the fourth minute, forcing a save by Daniel Good.

Maksym Kamperda forced the first save from senior Cody Willoughby just several minutes later. Willoughby made one more save in the half before Tichy gave West Chester the advantage just before the break. Owen Slack played Tichy through on goal and the forward calmly tucked his effort past the keeper.

West Chester took the momentum into the second half, scoring just 12 minutes in from Ian Alicea's headed goal. Slack provided his second assist with the corner delivery that found the head of Alicea who powered it into the top left corner.

The Golden Rams continued the pressure, registering 20 shots in the half and six on target. Willoughby made six saves in the second half, going full extension on one save to prevent a third goal.

SU returns to action on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup against Bloomsburg at David See Field where the Raiders will celebrate eight seniors for Senior Day.
