The Shippensburg University men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought match at Bloomsburg on Wednesday night, falling to the Huskies 4-3 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Shippensburg (2-4-2, 0-4-2 PSAC East) fell behind in the 13th minute when Bloomsburg (7-2-1, 3-1-1) got a goal off a header from Patrick Walsh.
The Raiders answered back just two minutes later when senior forward
Chase Estes took a through ball from junior forward
Seth Crabbe and snuck a shot inside the left post to tie the game, 1-1.
The Huskies took the lead in the 31st minute off a penalty kick from Anthony Schlee.
SU was awarded a penalty kick of its own when
Seth Crabbe was fouled in the box. Sophomore midfielder
Ashton Davies scored on the penalty kick, potting the ball in the bottom left corner.
Shippensburg took the lead in the second half when senior froward
Harry Kershaw buried a cross from
Chase Estes in the 57th minute.
Bloomsburg answered just three minutes later when Stephen Hollis floated a free kick from midfield over the head of sophomore goalkeeper
Cody Willoughby.
In the 63rd minute, the Huskies took the lead yet again when Patrick Walsh scored his second goal of the match.
Willoughby made six saves in the contest, the third time this season he has made at least six saves in a game.
This is the first time the Raiders have scored three goals against the Huskies since Oct. 19, 2013, when Shippensburg won 6-0 at Bloomsburg.
Shippensburg returns to the pitch at 7 p.m. on Monday when they travel to Chestnut Hill.
