Sophomore
Omario Duncan scored twice in the second half, including the game-winning goal with less than five minutes to play Monday, as the Shippensburg University men's soccer team came from behind to defeat Chestnut Hill, 3-2, in non-conference action at the Colonial Soccer Club.
Shippensburg (3-4-2) trailed 1-0 at the half, as Chestnut Hill (1-7-3) scored a goal in the fourth minute of the game to take the lead. Duncan scored just 13 seconds into the second half off an assist from
George Graham to even the match at 1-1.
The Griffins retook the lead seven minutes later on a Timothy Kane strike, but the Raiders answered back less than four minutes later when redshirt-freshman
Victor Vottero scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from
Nathan Weldon.
With 4:32 remaining, Duncan scored his second goal of the season and what proved to be his first career game-winning goal by finishing a pass from
Seth Crabbe to make it 3-2 Raiders.
Freshman goalkeeper
Matt Riley made his collegiate debut and recorded two saves to achieve the victory.
Shots on goal were 7-4 in Shippensburg's favor, and corner kicks were 8-1 in Shippensburg's favor. The two teams combined for five yellow cards.
Shippensburg will host Millersville at 4 p.m. Saturday in a divisional matchup at David See Field.
