SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team completed its three-game weekend series on Saturday with a 7-0 victory to sweep Salem at Fairchild Field.

Shippensburg (21-20) totaled 11 hits and scored its first run off the first of two home runs in the game by senior
Lake Lloyd, a solo shot off the fencing at Seth Grove Stadium in the second inning.

In the fourth inning, Shippensburg furthered its lead to 5-0 and finished its scoring in the fifth off of Lloyd's second home run, a two-run shot that brought home redshirt-sophomore
Justin Byler.

Carter Hinds was 3-for-4 and also drew a walk, reaching base four times. In the fourth, he singled through the left side, sending sophomore
Andrew Chronister. Hinds scored on an error, and senior
Ben Werkheiser doubled to left field to send graduate
JuJu Cason and sophomore
Joe Barbera home.

The SU pitching staff only allowed four hits and struck out five in the win – its second shutout of the weekend and its seventh of the season. Junior
Noah Nabholz started and threw six innings without allowing any Salem (14-31) hits. Nabholz walked six and struck out four.

Gabe Stotler and
Jackson LoBianco finished off the game on the mound, allowing a combined four hits and striking out one.
Shippensburg hosts IUP at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairchild Field.
