GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team collected three wins in a close battle against Gettysburg in a non-conference match up claimed by the Bullets, 6-3, at the Gettysburg Tennis Center.

Shippensburg (3-11) earned two points in singles play from freshman
Brooklynn Rupert and junior
Sahar Islam. The Raiders collected one of the three doubles points, as No. 2 doubles pair Rupert and freshman
Kendall Winters won 8-2.

Shippensburg had to play a pro set to eight games in the doubles, while each point counted as one win.

At No. 5 singles, Rupert was aggressive and won the first set 6-2. Her opponent started to come back in the second set, and Rupert had to battle her way back to win her first collegiate match – claiming the tiebreak, 7-6.

At No. 6 singles, Islam had a tough first set but won 7-6. After adjusting to her opponent's slice, she cruised to a 6-2 win in the second set to claim the match.

At No. 2 doubles, the freshman pair of Winters and Rupert utilized angles and finished their points to poach an 8-2 win.

Two other singles matches were very close. Senior
Kayla Tryanski went into extras in both sets of her No. 4 singles match, claiming 11 games overall in falling 7-5, 7-6. Sophomore
Merel Hoekstra claimed eight games in a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 3 singles.

Gettysburg (9-7) won No. 1 through No. 4 singles in addition to No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

The Raiders will be back in action on Thursday at 2 p.m. against Millersville for its last home conference match.
