Shippensburg University Athletics

2022 (Sophomore): Competed in 12 singles matches in the spring season and 10 doubles matches…rose from No. 6 singles to No. 5 singles and all the way up to No. 4 singles…won four conference singles matches against Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Shepherd and Lock Haven…played primarily at No. 1 doubles with partner Jenna Sluymer…won four doubles conference matches, including two close tiebreak matches.
 
2020-21 (Freshman): Competed in three singles matches and four doubles matches for the Raiders in her debut season…worked primarily as the team’s No. 5 singles player and in the team’s primary No. 3 doubles pairing...won a doubles match with her partner Hannah Wieller against a competitor from Bloomsburg…took to the court twice at No. 1 doubles.  
 
Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar: Played tennis at the club level…specialized in field hockey, competing as a defender for club team HGC under coach Nick Budgeon…contributed to Dutch U12 Indoor and Outdoor Field Hockey National Championships in 2013 and 2014.
 
About Hoekstra: Full name is Merel Charlotte Eva Hoekstra…is the daughter of Marco Götte and Franciska Hoekstra…majoring in marketing…has three sisters: Roos, Julia and Noor.
