KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team played to three sets in half of its singles matches on Monday but came up short in a close contest with Seton Hill, falling 6-1 to the Griffins at Oak Street Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (0-4) earned their point in No. 1 singles, as senior
Jenna Sluymer won 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 in a great match with Cameron Beer. Sluymer rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the third-set tiebreak, winning eight straight points to claim the victory. She also won three straight games in the second set after trailing at 5-2.

At No. 3 singles, freshman
Kendall Winters won the first set by a score of 6-3. Kendall McCluskey, her opponent, crawled her way back to claim the second set 6-2 and finished off the win in the third-set tiebreak

At No. 4 singles, senior
Kayla Tryanski fought her way back after losing the first set 6-1. She found her way back and won the second set, 6-3, only to fall in the third-set tiebreak 10-7.

At No. 6 singles, sophomore
Merel Hoekstra trailed 4-0 down in the first set but rallied to force a tiebreaker, falling just short. She claimed eight games in a 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 loss to Sophia Solomon. Â

In doubles, Sluymer and senior
Jazmin Petrantonio came from behind in the No. 2 flight to tie the score at 4-4 but fell 6-4.

In an exhibition singles match, freshman
Brooklynn Rupert earned her first collegiate win. She dropped the first set 6-4 but became more aggressive and came to the net, winning the second set, 6-0. She claimed the third-set tiebreak 10-7.

The Raiders will be back in action at 1 p.m. tomorrow against Sioux Falls at the USTA National Campus, Orlando, Florida.
