The Shippensburg University baseball team lost 7-5 at No. 28 East Stroudsburg on Friday on a sunny and mild day at Creekview Park.

Shippensburg (6-16, 1-3 PSAC East) out-hit East Stroudsburg (18-4, 1-0), 12-10, but a five-run sixth inning for the Warriors proved decisive. Seven of ESU's 10 hits came consecutively in the sixth inning that flipped a 2-1 Warrior deficit into a 6-2 lead.

Nick Zegna zoomed through the first five innings, allowing just a solo home run to that point, and otherwise pitched effectively. Zegna went 7.2 innings, allowing seven runs and striking out eight. He did not walk a batter but hit two.

Chase Nowak got the start for East Stroudsburg and allowed a run on four hits over five innings; he walked two and struck out four. Reliever Justin Guidos got the win in relief, scattering four runs (three earned) and eight hits over four innings. CJ Peechatka was 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Warriors.
