The Shippensburg University men's swimming team advanced 14 of its 17 individual non-exhibition swims to evening finals on the second day of competition at the Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Raiders sit in fifth place in the team standings.

Among the many impressive swims included four Top 5 finishes. Graduate Andrew Hale came within a tenth of a second of his PR in the 100-yard breaststroke – a time of 56.90 seconds that ranks fourth in school history – by swimming 57.02 seconds in the championship final for a fourth-place finish.

Junior Michael Salvatori and graduate Vin Salvatore went 3-4 in the 400-yard IM, each improving by at least three seconds from their morning swim. Salvatori finished in 4:11.53, while Salvatore touched the wall in 4:11.74.

Sophomore David Johnson paced three Raider scorers in the 200-yard freestyle with a fifth-place finish and a time of 1:44.88 that crushes his lifetime best by more than a second. Senior JC Greenwood also reached the championship final by virtue of a 1:46.36 morning prelim time and took eighth in the evening. Sophomore Nathan VanNatter narrowly missed the championship final and finished 12th in the consolation final with a time of 1:46.43.

All three Raiders to compete in the 100-yard butterfly contributed to the team score with points in their respective finals. Senior Alec Burger achieved a new lifetime best in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming 52.01 in the consolation final for a 10th-place finish. Sophomore Zaidian Van Orden set a new PR with his morning prelim of 52.36 seconds and finished 16th overall, while junior Matthew Beard cracked the 54-second mark in his morning prelim and scored in the pre-consolation final.

Senior David Bussard paced the Raiders in the 100-yard backstroke with a 12th-place time of 53.74 seconds after swimming 53.45 seconds in prelims.
