SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team suffered a heartbreaking loss against Bloomsburg in a 'Dig Pink' Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup Friday night. Set scores were 12-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 and 7-15.

Shippensburg (10-10, 3-3 PSAC East) had two players with double-digit kills. Sophomore Kat Negron had 16 kills; her fifth match with double-digit kills this season. Negron added 16 digs and an ace. Reigning PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, senior Oyinda Agbale had 10 kills, her 8th match with double-digit kills this season, and one block solo and one block assist.

Freshman Kearstin Davis led the team with 34 assists and added 20 digs. Fellow freshman Erica Lampus had a team-high 27 digs.

The Raiders started slow in the first set and were unable to pick up any momentum and dropped the set, 25-12. In the second set, Bloomsburg (4-15, 2-4) and Shippensburg were tied at 5-5, until the Raiders went on a 5-0  run and kept the lead to take the set 25-20.

The Huskies took control of the third set after being tied at 4-4. An 8-3 run by BU gave it the lead and the set. The fourth set saw five tie scores and four lead changes. An SU 6-2 run early in the set would be matched by a 7-1 run by the Huskies, only for the Raiders to go on a 12-2 run to secure a 19-11 lead and the set 25-18.

Bloomsburg took the momentum in the fifth set with a 3-0 run and never let the Raiders come back into the set. A BU 9-2 run secured the victory.

Shippensburg will host Lock Haven tomorrow for another 'Dig Pink' matchup at 1 p.m.
