SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team opened its four-game series with Kutztown on Thursday with a home sweep, defeating the Golden Bears by scores of 9-5 and 9-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on a sunny, 70-degree day at Fairchild Field.
Shippensburg (11-7, 9-5 PSAC East) cranked out 24 hits, including nine doubles. The Raiders used a six-run fifth inning in Game 1 to turn a tie game into a 9-3 lead, and then used a seven-run second inning in Game 2 to take control of the nightcap.
Graduate
JuJu Cason had a team-high four hits, totaling three RBIs. He also stole two bases and scored two runs.
Both
Chase Zurawski and
Lake Lloyd finished the doubleheader with two doubles, three total hits, and three RBIs. Graduate
Jordan Yoder added three hits and two RBIs.
Kiernan Higgins threw five shutout innings in Game 2 for the win in the nightcap. Higgins allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out seven.

Kyle Lysy got the Game 1 win, allowing three runs on six hits in five innings. Lysy walked two and struck out four.
Austen Labarre,
Jackson LoBianco and
Chris Horst all threw a scoreless 1-2-3 inning out of the bullpen. Labarre and Horst each struck out two.
Shippensburg travels to Kutztown on Friday for a noon doubleheader at North Campus Field.
